Yvonne I. Smith, 81, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Mass Of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery in Watkins.
Yvonne was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Cedar Rapids to Fred and Nellie (Anderson) Kness. On Sept. 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Paul H. Smith in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2011.
Yvonne was employed at Midland Forge in Cedar Rapids before her retirement.
She is survived by four of her children, Keith Smith of Vinton, Mary Bilsland of Cedar Rapids, Connie (Al) Keller of Cedar Rapids and Tracy (Kevin) Kirk of Robbins; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mildred Shirbroun, Jean Vaerk, Delores Korsmo and Jolene Rohret; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; two sisters; and four brothers.
