Yvonne M. Epley, 83, of Iowa City, and longtime former resident of Solon, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023.
Yvonne Marie Loomis was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Redwood City, Calif., the daughter of Eldon and Minnie (Rasmussen) Loomis. She married Donald L. Epley on Aug. 25, 1963, in Redwood City, Calif. The couple moved to Iowa after Don accepted a position with the University of Iowa. The couple made their home in Solon where their property was known as June Acres – the Morgan Farm. This was Yvonne’s heaven, raising horses and all the hard work that went with it. She was an excellent seamstress, often making Don’s sports jackets. An excellent cook and gracious hostess, she thought laughter was the best medicine and herself had one of the greatest laughs!
Her family includes her husband of 60 years, Don; two nieces and one nephew, Debbie Brenkman, Susan Epley and John Brenkman; two great-nephews, Benjamin Brenkman and Samuel Brenkman; great-great-nieces Ava, Isabella, Anya and Eliana Brenkman; and great-great-nephew, Abraham Brenkman.
