Yutesler, Darrell J.
Darrell J. Yutesler, 80, of Clarence, formerly of Lowden, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at the VA Health Care System in Iowa City. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's UCC in Clarence with the Rev. David Mears officiating. Friends may call one hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial: Inland Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; sons, Terry (Kris) of Bennett, Rick (Sheila) of Bettendorf and Darrell Jr. (Jody) of Lowden; daughter, Linda (Mike) Anderson of Bennett; foster brother, Ken (Marsha) Richmann of Clarence; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Edgar and Mildred Richmann; his twin brother, Carrell; brother, Billy; and granddaughter, Jodi Anderson.
Darrell was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Little Sioux, Iowa. He married Lois Licht on May 26, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. Darrell was a member of St. John's UCC and the Lowden Legion and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and was a retired farmer. Darrell served as an elder at the United Church of Christ in Lowden for four years and served on the Cedar County draft board for 10 years. He was a sergeant in the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart. He served in Hawaii, Germany, Korea and Japan. Darrell also enjoyed going on the honor flight with his daughter, Linda in November 2012.
