Yuba Rachel Oster, 82, peacefully passed away Dec. 22, 2015, in Cedar Rapids.
Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church, Scotch Grove. A Celebration of Life will follow services at Center Junction Community Center.
Yuba was born March 17, 1933, in Marysville, Calif., the daughter of Jess and Kate Rains. She graduated from high school in Whiting, Iowa. Yuba married Donald Oster on June 13, 1953, in Whiting; he died April 11, 2004.
In her early years, Yuba was a secretary for the Center Junction school and co-owner of the Ly-Brary in Center Junction. Later in life, she was city clerk for the city of Center Junction.
Yuba enjoyed many things in her life – gardening, reading and cooking. During her 50 years of marriage she and Don together enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing and spending time with their grandkids. Later in life she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Yuba is survived by two children, Michael (Lori) Oster of Chandler, Ariz., and Peggy (Richard) Oster of Center Junction; her two grandchildren Tricia (Daniel) Webb of Overbrook, Kan., and Jess (Angela) McLane of Clinton; and her eight great-grandchildren, Tristan, Dyllan, Peyton, Draven, Ashlyn, Keegan, Greyson and Willow.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers and two sisters.
