Young, Kathleen Ann
Kathleen Ann Young, 70, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Michael Metz. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids and one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include five children, Margaret (David) Arnold, Marvin (Tracy) Young Jr., Laura Ogreen, Charles (Jennifer) Young Sr., and Gayle Young, all of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Kathryn Dougherty; her husband, Marvin; six brothers, Tom, Henry, Harry, Richard, John and Alvin; and a grandson, Matthew Paulson.
Kathleen was born June 29, 1941, the daughter of Chester and Kathryn (Brown) Dougherty, in Cedar Rapids. On Nov. 1, 1958, she married Marvin A. Young Sr. He died Jan. 18, 2004.
Kathleen was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, where she was a Stephen's minister. She was a league bowler for 32 years. Kathleen also enjoyed NASCAR and Hawkeye sports.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Kathleen's memory.
