Yordi, Pearl Madeline (Schwope)
Pearl Madeline (Schwope) Yordi, 86, of North Liberty, died peacefully on Aug. 27, 2009, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville following an extended illness. Visitation will be held at First Christian Church, 900 Lincolnshire Place at North Dubuque Street (north of I-80), on Monday, Aug. 31, from 9 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following. Pastor John W. McKinstry will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling the arrangements.
Pearl was born July 9, 1923, in Berthold, N.D., the fourth child of eight, and married Alfred William Yordi on Oct. 12, 1940, in Minot, N.D.
Survivors include her children, Dean (Jeanne) Yordi, Norwalk, Jeanette (fiance Bill Farwell) Meade, Iowa City, Diane (Ron) Thomas, North Liberty, Dennis Yordi, Solon, Jo Anne (Jodi) Marquardsen, Acampo, Calif.; brother, Neil Schwope, North Dakota; and sister, Garnet Quimby, Arkansas. Pearl has 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda; husband, Alfred; four brothers and one sister.
Pearl enjoyed being involved with her church, ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary, and had a passion for playing Euchre.
