Yeater, Ronald 'Ron' E.
Ronald “Ron” E. Yeater, 74, of Parnell, passed away May 10, 2013, at Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids.
Ronald Eldon Yeater was born July 29, 1938, to Charles and Gladys (Klinkkhammer) Yeater in Morley, Iowa. He attended school in Morley, Mechanicsville and Cedar Rapids. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. Ron was united in marriage to Sandra Sullivan in 1966. They later divorced. He retired from United Technologies Automotive in Iowa City, where he had worked for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, and the outdoors. He was known to tinker with tractors, restore old cars, and loved to face new challenges.
He will be remembered for being hands on, practical, but most importantly for his generosity, kindness and compassion for all living things.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Chase of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Juli) Yeater of Castle Pines, Colo., and Jim Yeater of Florida; former wife, Sandra Yeater; grandchildren, Grant and Claire Yeater, Crystal and Shannon Telfer, and Jackie Chase; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Landon Myers and Killian and Addy Harris and one on the way; siblings, Violet McDonald and Evelyn Port, both of Cedar Rapids, and Althea (Leonard) Kuzela and Marvin (Joanne) Yeater, both of Marion; and Sue Powers, a friend and neighbor who shared a love for animals.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Malvin; nephew, Randy Port; and dear friend, Janice Masters.
Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Foundation or ASPCA.
