Yeager, Norma P.
Norma P. Yeager, 88, formerly of Atalissa, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty.
Norma was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Dover, Ark., the daughter of Odus and Lottie (Carr) Teal. She was a graduate of Russellville, Ark., High School. On Aug. 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to James Franklin Yeager. Norma and Frank had worked in the grocery business in Arkansas for several years before moving to Iowa in 1950. She had worked at Sears in Muscatine, Winfield Grocery in West Liberty, owned and operated Yeager Grocery in Atalissa for 13 years and retired from the Wilton State Bank. where she was a cashier.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa, American Legion Auxiliary in West Liberty and was active with the Seniors in Atalissa.
Survivors include one daughter, Frankie Jo (Milferd) Moennich of Williamsburg; son-in-law, Fred Harper of Durant; four grandchildren, Robert Harper, James Harper, John Harper and Adam Moennich; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Reba and Audrey; and brother, Alvin.
