Yates, Marie Ann
Marie Ann Yates, 80, of 3815 First Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died at her home Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, after fighting to the end of her long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. John Howerton of United Methodist Church of Palo. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Marie is survived by her husband, Richard; a son, Douglas (Debra) of Palo; a daughter, Connie (Allen) Stueck of Atkins; four grandchildren, Brianna Drahos of Cedar Rapids, Danielle and Matthew Yates both of Palo, and Brent Stueck of Atkins; a brother, Carl (Evelyn) Studt of Springville; and a sister-in-law, Annabelle Ocheltree of Waco, Texas.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Marie was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Nona Slaymaker Studt. She was united in marriage to Richard Boyd Yates on March 3, 1957, at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Palo.
Marie enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for her family. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with friends.
