Yamada, Sora Jo
Sora Jo Yamada came into this world suddenly on Sept. 8, 2009, and departed unexpectedly of undetermined cause on Feb. 3, 2011. Sora was a beautiful and loving daughter of Pope and Darcie Dotson Yamada and sister to Kirin Dotson Yamada of Iowa City, Iowa. She brought joy to all those around her with her smile, laughter, and love of music; she will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, with Pastor Mark Pries officiating. Burial services will follow.
Sora is survived by her brother, Kirin; her parents, Pope and Darcie Yamada; her grandparents, Roger and Roberta Dotson of Gilberts, Ill., and Thoru and Patricia Yamada of Iowa City; her godparents, Anna White of Iowa City and Michael Pope of Memphis, Tenn.; her aunts, Kristi Dotson of Belleville, Ill., and Torrii Yamada of Iowa City; and her cousins, Christian and Chloe Mullen of Belleville, as well as countless other family and friends who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Margarete and Ervil Dotson of Milford, Iowa, Patrick and Helen Pope of Sioux City, Ervin and Verda Rierson of Estherville and Shigeru and Sakae Yamada of Nagoya, Japan.
Memorials may be directed to the Sora Jo Yamada Memorial Fund.
