Yakish, David Alan
David Alan Yakish, 55, of Rio Linda, Calif., died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. A memorial service also will be held in California at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. For information, call Carolyn Marshall at (209) 245-5555.

David Alan Yakish was born on March 16, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Robert Bernard and Nancy Kay (Jarrard) Yakish. David graduated from Lone Tree High School, attended the University of Iowa and University of Northern Iowa, graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Landscaping Architecture. David was self-employed and founded Garden Makers Landscaping Co. in Washington, D.C., Florida and California. His garden was featured in several magazines including “Bay Area Homestyle,” “Better Homes and Gardens” and “Sierra Heritage” and had many featured gardens at the San Francisco Landscape Garden Show, as well as appearing on HGTV. David enjoyed drawing, painting, designing yards and his dogs and birds.
David will be deeply missed by his mother, Nancy Yakish of Windmill Manor; three brothers, Randy Yakish and his wife, Liz of Lone Tree, Robert Yakish of Lone Tree, and Tom Yakish and his wife, Theresa of Kalona; three sisters, Kelly Tucker and her husband, Scott of Lone Tree, Trisha Sexton and her husband, Rich of Lone Tree, and Laura Miller and her husband, Scott of Lone Tree; grandmother, Iva Jarrard of Lone Tree; 12 nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Yakish and his friend, Peter.
