Yackubowski, Dorothy Ann
Dorothy Ann Yackubowski, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Pastor Kathy Moore and Chaplain Brian Reeves. Inurnment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three children, Stanley Charles Yackubowski of Mineola, N.Y., Theresa Yackubowski of Cedar Rapids and Dorothy Ellen Yackubowski of Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y.; three brothers, Charles, James and Robert; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; a brother, Willie Doepper; and a sister, Lucille “Aunt Lucky” Keough.
Dorothy was born Aug. 1, 1928, the daughter of William and Elsie Doepper in Darien, Conn. She married Stanley W. Yackubowski in 1949 in Mineola, N.Y. He died in 1971. Dorothy worked as a file clerk at Great American Insurance Co. in New York City from 1944-1950.
Dorothy enjoyed church and singing hymns. She loved music and her kids were her life. She loved dancing, animals, smoking cigarettes, playing poker, bingo, and playing the piano by ear.
