Wyatt Lawrence Irvin, age 3, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2025. He was born on February 10, 2022, to Dylan Irvin and Trinity Graves.
Affectionately known as Pie, Wy-Guy and Wy-Wy to those closest to him. Wyatt had the most genuine and contagious laugh. He had a huge heart and was deeply loved by all. Wyatt was a funny, affectionate kid who quickly connected with adults in his life. Wyatt loved being a big brother, always doting and loving on Everett. He loved reading, writing, counting, playing with cars, swimming, splashing, and exploring anything dinosaur related. He looked forward every day to attending pre-school at Christine Grant Elementary, learning new things, and spending time with friends.
His favorite movies were Alvin and the Chipmunks, which almost always got him singing, dancing, or laughing at one point or another, and Monsters Inc. He fiercely loved his animals, including his German Shepherd “icky b”, and kitten “e-o”, who joined the family a few days prior to Wyatt’s passing. Wyatt’s health was often a rollercoaster due to having Dravet Syndrome, but even in the times he wasn’t feeling well, his sweet personality was always present. His smile and laughter could light up a room and he made all of our lives better in his short time with us.
He is survived by his parents, Dylan Irvin and Madeleine Drake-Metzger; his mother, Trinity Graves; brother, Everett Irvin, and will be dearly missed by his grandparents, Stacey Irvin and Joe Barrow, Jessica Drake and Rob Metzger. He loved playing with his aunt Layla "La-La" Irvin, uncles, Lucas and Hunter Barrow, and Carter, Nick, and Tommy Drake-Metzger. His great grandparents Guy Irvin, Karlene and Chuck Campbell, Ginger Hahn, and Bob and Kathy Metzger. As well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers a go fund me has been established to help with family expenses during this difficult time. Donations can also be made to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation https://dravetfoundation.org/ to support research and resources for others coping with this illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, January 5, 2026, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where a time of visitation will be held 2 to 5 pm Sunday. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.
