Wyatt, Dorothy E.
Dorothy E. Wyatt, 85, of Northbrook Manor, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Harlan Gillespie will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Don) Harden of Cedar Rapids; a son, David (Cyd) of Omaha, Neb.; two siblings, Adeline Knoebel and Herman Knoener Jr., and a cousin, Evelyn Schroder, all of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Dave, Doug and Dawn Marie Harden of Minnesota, Darin (Nikki) Harden of Germany, and Dillon, Anna, Josiah and Matthew Wyatt of Omaha, Neb.; and two great-grandchildren, Dessa and Derek Harden of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Dorothy was born June 27, 1925, in Plymouth, Wis., the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Lupinski) Knoener. She married Earl H. Wyatt on June 3, 1944, in Rapid City, S.D. He died in 2008. Dorothy assisted with the book work of Wyatt's Tree Care and Repair Business. She attended Kirkwood Community College, obtaining a degree in floral culture, and became an Iowa Certified Florist. She worked until retiring at Kirkwood Community College in the floral and horticulture department.
Dorothy volunteered over 10,000 hours in various areas, including St. Luke's Flower Stall, Linn County Area On Aging, and was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a loyal helper a the thrift mart.
Dorothy was a member of the Bobbin Lace Club, lifetime member of Waltonian Archer Club, Kirkwood Alumni Board and Seminole Valley Farm Board. She enjoyed caning chairs, crocheting, flowers and gardening.
Dorothy had a deep love for her friends and family and will be greatly missed by them.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or St. Luke's Hospice.
