Wubbena, Lyla May
Lyla May Wubbena, 82, of Marion, formerly of Vinton, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at her home in Marion following an sudden illness. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, at Phillips Family Center (605 Second Ave.) in Vinton. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Cemetery, north of Vinton.
Lyla was born April 11, 1929, in Vinton, to Clifford and Gretchen (Tharp) Geiger, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Wubbena at Blair, Neb. Lyla enjoyed working with the elderly and children and dearly loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of Marion; her daughter, Ronda (Lonny) Walker of Kearney, Mo.; two sons, Rick Burkey of Mechanicsville and Roice (Kris) Burkey of Alburnett; two grandchildren, Cody (Jeff) Holmes of Kearney, Mo., and Alyssa Faylor of Alburnett; two great-grandchildren, Isabel and Julia Holmes; and her brother, Terry (Shirley) Geiger of Vinton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Larry Geiger; and her grandson, Brok Burkey.
A memorial fund has been established.
