Wright, Orva L.
Orva L. Wright, 99, of Independence, Iowa died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at West Village Care in Independence.
Orva was born Feb. 12, 1912, near Walker, Iowa, the son of George H. and Grace M. (Gipe) Wright. He attended country schools near Walker, Iowa. He was married to Donna Hoover on April 28, 1936. The couple later divorced. Orva farmed and in 1955 he became employed with Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids, working until his retirement in 1977.
He is survived by three children: Larry Wright, Independence, Iowa, Charlotte (Thomas) Peyton, Winthrop, Iowa, and Kenneth (Loretta) Wright, Walker, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Rachael Wright; four brothers, Robert, Ranson, Edd, and Everett Wright; and two sisters, Verna Workman and Edna Edgeton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Rev. William F. Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Circle Grove Cemetery, Walker, Iowa. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. till services Wednesday.
