Wright, Enid Elizabeth
CEDAR RAPIDS - Enid Elizabeth Wright, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jim Langley. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Joan) Wright of Lake Elmo, Minn., Pastor Dennis (Winnie) Wright of East Bethel, Minn., Michael (Sara) Wright of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Fatima) Wright of San Diego, Calif.; BethAnn (Doug) McBride of Washington, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Brian (Jen), Darren (Jennifer), Alycia (Greg), Travis, Kathryn (Matt), Brandon, Peter, Margaret, Andrea (Everett), Russell (Jennifer), Sahada (Elijah), Timothy and Rebecca; 16 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Virginia Byrne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and all six of her siblings, Mildred Krumm, Viola Cramer, Leland Wahe, Delores Wahe, Mardene Sorenson, and Harold Wahe.
Enid was born Jan. 27, 1917, the daughter of Ernest and Julia (Cox) Wahe, in Adair, Iowa. She graduated from Adair High School in 1934 and after high school became a licensed beautician. Enid married Robert A. Wright on March 2, 1941, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He died July 2, 1995.
She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, King's Daughters, and several bowling leagues. Enid enjoyed playing cards, playing the piano and the organ, singing, shopping, going to concerts and doing word searches. Enid adored her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, or the American Cancer Society in Enid's memory.
