Worley, Lester L.
Lester L. Worley, 82, of Washington, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family following a lengthy battle with cancer. Mass of the Resurrection and Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Prayer services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29, will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Worley of Washington; daughter, Diane Worley of Iowa City; son, LaVon Worley and wife Judy of Sperry, and their daughter, Kendra Weingart and husband Greg, and great-granddaughter, Presley; son, Les Worley and wife Linda of Coralville; daughter, Debra Rivey and husband Mike of Missoula, Mon., and their children, Josh and Sam; daughter, Cassandra Puder and husband Jason of Oklahoma City, Okla., and their children, Tanner and Jordyn; daughter, Amy Purdy and husband Nate of Olathe, Kan., and their children, Alexis and Cole; and one sister, Doris Mineart of Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Iowa City Hospice.
