Woods, Maxine Louise

Maxine Louise Woods, 95, formerly of Marion, passed away on Nov. 11, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at First United Methodist Church in Marion, where she was virtually a lifelong member. Private family inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion before the services.

Maxine was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Marion to John and Mae O'Kelly, and was a Marion resident for almost 85 of her 95 years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold; son, John; daughter-in-law, Mary; brothers, Chauncey and Devere; and sister, Betty.

Surviving are sons, Jerry (Deloris) Woods of Raleigh, N.C., and Larry (Carolyn) Woods of Roseville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She loved her church, her Bible, her family, her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her friends, being with people, telling stories and traveling.

She brought love and joy to all the lives she touched, and her loving memory will live with us in the days ahead.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be directed to First United Methodist Church, 1298 Seventh Ave., Marion, IA 52302 in Maxine's memory.
