Woods, Mary E.

Mary E. Woods, 73, of 2340 27th St., Marion, died at her home on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, after an extended illness. Memorial services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Chapel after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Survivors include one son, Scott of Marion; and two daughters, Wendy Williams of Blue Springs, Mo., and Peggy Connell of Oak Harbor, Wash.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tabitha, Nicole, Justin, Shawna and Danielle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Mary was born on Nov. 23, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Rodney and Nellie Clark and graduated from McKinley High School in 1955. She married John A. Woods on June 14, 1958, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2006. Mary worked in food service at St. Luke's Hospital and later at the Linn County Home and the Linn County Jail.

Mary enjoyed playing games, cards, reading, traveling with her husband and was an avid bingo player. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
