Woodard, Barbara J.

Barbara J. Woodard, 86, died peacefully Monday, March 5, 2012, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. A graveside burial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa. A celebration of life will take place immediately following the burial at the Stone City General Store.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Harriet Bingaman of Boone; her children, John Woodard of Pasadena, Calif., Calvin (Dee) Woodard of Monticello, Carolyn Simmons of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Lana) Woodard of Big Rock, Victoria (Al) Mathews of Austin, Texas, Chris Woodard of Palmer, Alaska, Debra (Charles) Castle of Soucier, Miss., C.J. (Mike) Warner of Anamosa, Lester Woodard of Naples, Fla., and Joe (Penny) Woodard of Anamosa; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; one niece and five nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 1998; and two children, Charles Paul Jr. and Susan Marie.

Barbara was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Birmingham, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Eva (Grinsted) Simmons. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1943 and married Charles Paul Woodard on Sept. 13, 1951.
