Wood, Wayne L.
Wayne L. Wood, 63, of Marion, formerly of Central City, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Marion. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; his children, Angie (Patrick) O'Connor of Cedar Rapids, Scott (Tammy) Wood of Anamosa and Adam Wood of Marion; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wayne was born Oct. 9, 1949, the son of Harold Wood and Leila Wright in Central City, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. In 1969, Wayne was united in marriage to Jan Dannenbrink. A longtime teacher in the Cedar Rapids area, Wayne was a member of VFW Post 788.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
