Wood-Silver-Smith, Berdena F.
Berdena F. Wood-Silver-Smith, 83, a resident of Crestview Acres Nursing Home, Marion, and formerly of Central City, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services:
10:30 a.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremations Service, Central City, by Pastor Mary Taylor. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her sons, Jim Silver, Ed Silver, Larry (DeeDee) Silver, Vern (Connie) Silver, Gerald (Anita) Silver, and Don (Ronette) Silver, all of Central City. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; four brothers, Art, Huck, LeRoy, and Tommy; two sisters, Lucille Carpenter and Ethel; and two sons, Hurk, and Dave.
Berdena was born east of Central City on April 11, 1926, to Verner and Libby (Rohn) Wood. She married James Silver on Oct. 24, 1943 in Prairieburg. James later died and Berdena married Aubrey Smith on June 30, 1979. Berdena's family was her life and holidays were a big event for her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crestview Acres Nursing Home and St. Luke's Hospital for their care and concern.
A memorial fund has been established in Berdena's memory.
