Wood, Rollin Dale
Rollin Dale Wood, 91, of Tipton, formerly of Stanwood, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab. Funeral services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Stanwood Union Church, Stanwood, with Pastor Phil Leipold officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites: Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughter, Sally (Allen) Kraft of Davenport; son, Raymond (Bette) Wood of Swisher; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Morley, Iowa, the son of Frank and Sarah (Fulton) Wood, he married Virginia Bowers on May 5, 1945, in Maquoketa.
Dale served in the Army during World War II and worked as custodian at Lincoln Schools in Stanwood for 33 years before retirement. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening.
A memorial fund has been established.
