Wolmutt, Donald K.
Donald K. Wolmutt, 80, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by Rev. Mike Morgan. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Inurnment: Wednesday at Silver Creek Cemetery, rural Ryan.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; son, David (Marcy) Wolmutt of Madison, Wis.; son-in-law, Jeff Blackburn of Grayslake, Ill.; four grandchildren, Paige and Quinn Blackburn, and Aaron and Kyle Wolmutt; sister, Betty Dolan of Oelwein; and brother, James (Shirley) Wolmutt of Prairieburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Wendy Blackburn.
Don was born September 16, 1931, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the son of Roy and Goldie (Willmott) Wolmutt. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1949, attended Tarleton State College in Texas, and served in the United States Air Force. He married Donna Robinson on December 7, 1957, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Don served on numerous boards and commissions while employed by LeFebure, where he was director of human resources. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather, avid golfer, fisherman, and lifelong supporter of the Hawkeyes and Cubs. His witty outlook on life will be missed by all of his friends.
