Blanche C. Davis was born Aug. 7, 1914, on a farm west of Iowa City, daughter of Dewey and Hattie (Wentz) Davis. She attended rural Johnson County schools and graduated from U High with the class of 1933. For several years she kept house for the Aaron Braverman family. On Dec. 26, 1939, she married Russell Wolfe, of North Liberty, in Kirksville, Mo. For several years, they farmed together near North Liberty before moving to a farm near Lowden in 1965. In 1970, they retired and moved to Iowa City, where Blanche provided in-home child care for many years. Russell passed away in 1977, and in 1986, Blanche moved to Modern Manor, where she continued to provide child care until her move to Ecumenical Towers in 1994.
Her family includes her daughter, Janet Muhs and her husband, Donald; three grandchildren, Lora (Jeremy) Sweeting, Brian and Carl Muhs; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Morgan and Ethan Sweeting; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Jackie in 1943; brothers, John, Carl, Elmer and Dwight Davis; and sisters, Gladys (Robert) Lininger and Lucille (Kenneth) Stuart.
Blanche's family would like to thank the staff at Lantern Park for their kindness, especially Gary, as well as hospice nurse Nancy Upmeyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Camp Courageous.
