Wolf, Wayne
Wayne Wolf, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m.

Surviving is his wife, Susan; three children, Steven (Rebecca), of Meadowview, Va., Nancy (Pat) Nagel of West Branch, and David (Maureen) of Monticello; 12 grandchildren, Brigette Mulvehill, Molly, Douglas, Hannah Wolf, Kimberly Loftis, Matthew, Kylie, Dan Nagel, Alex, Anastasia, Heidi and Isaac Wolf; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Hemmer of Monticello; a brother-in-law, Bill Friese; three sisters-in-law, Mary, Harriet and Mary Jane Wolf; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Grace Terlisner and Yvonne Gordon; and six brothers, James, Pete, Tom, Jake, Donald and John; and his sister-in-law, Linda Friese.
Wayne William Wolf was born June 6, 1933, at Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of John L. and Mary Magdalena Wilhelm Wolf. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1951. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. Following his return from service, he was employed at Freese Motors and McAleer Oil.
Wayne Wolf and Susan Staner were married on August 22, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Wayne and Sue operated Staner Heating and Plumbing until retiring in 1995. In 2003, the couple moved to their cabin in Backus, Minn., enjoying their retirement together.
