Wogen, Merna Jeanne
Merna Jeanne Wogen, 97, of Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away July 27, 2011. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery, Humboldt.
Merna was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Baxter, Iowa, to Olonzo and Lena Tipton. On Nov. 26, 1937, she married the Rev. Norris L. Wogen. Two children were born to this union, Carol Jeanne Hill and John Paul Wogen. Merna taught elementary school in Cedar Rapids for 30 years. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother. Gordon Tipton.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Hill of Lee's Summit; son, John P. Wogen of League City, Texas; a sister, Crete Ottinger; two granddaughters, two grandsons and three great-great-grandsons.
