Woehr, Anna L. Floerchinger
Anna L. Floerchinger Woehr, 97, of Marengo, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Brooklyn Community Estate in Brooklyn. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, with the Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo.
A memorial fund has been established.
Anna is survived by her five daughters, Grace (Roy) Schumacher of Davenport, Sylvia (Don) Kummer of Garnet Valley, Pa., Virginia (Dale) Sperry of Marengo, Mary (Chuck) Wilde of Peach Tree City, Ga., and Carol (Alan) Hubbard of Princeton, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three stepchildren and several nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carl Floerchinger and Fred Woehr; nine brothers and sisters, the Rev. E.W. Hinrichs, Pauline Berry, Clark Hinrichs, Marie Boehnke, Martha Borcherding, Florence Krause, Louis Hinrichs, Howard Hinrichs and Gordon Hinrichs; one stepchild; and a son-in-law, David Soedt.
Anna L. Hinrichs was born Aug. 2, 1914, in rural Victor, Iowa, the daughter of Ludwig Henry and Anna Marie Schultz Hinrichs. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Victor, Iowa. She graduated from Guernsey High School with the class of 1932. Anna married Carl H. Floerchinger at St. John's Lutheran Church in Victor on Jan. 28, 1934. To their marriage they were blessed with five daughters. The couple farmed in the area for many years finally moving to Marengo in 1954. Anna served the Marengo Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo. Her husband Carl passed away in 1979. Anna married Fred J. Woehr in 1983 and lived in St. Louis, Mo. Fred passed away and Anna returned to Marengo in 1995. She enjoyed spending time crocheting and making quilts at St. John's Lutheran Church.
