Winterberg, Owen F.
Owen F. Winterberg, 76, a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Fort Myers, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Thomas E.S. Miller. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his fiancee, Mardene Marquart; a son, Richard Owen Winterberg (Ai Hamada) of Marion; a daughter, Lisa Ann (Terry) Tesar of Marion; and grandchildren, Scott, Shelby, Skyler and Shane Tesar and Miko and Hero Winterberg.
Also surviving is a brother, Ferris (Donna) Winterberg of Colleyville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Sondra (Sandy).
Owen Frank Winterberg was born Dec. 4, 1936, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Lee B. and Francis Owen Winterberg. He graduated from Coe College and Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He was vice president of SCI Financial Group/Wells Fargo Bank and spent his last three years with RBC Wealth Management.
Owen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Tuesday Noon Optimist Club, past president of Camp Wapsi Y and AOPA. He served with the Army during Vietnam. He loved flying and sailing and taught flying through Winterberg Aviation. He enjoyed hunting and traveling and wintering with Mardene in Florida.
