Winn, Norman V.
Norman V. Winn, 82, of Walker, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Walker, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker, by Father Ardel Barta. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall, where a vigil service begins at 7 p.m. Murdoch Funeral Home & Service in Walker is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie; three children, Norma (Doug) Schmidt of Coggon, Ron (Cindy) Winn of Walker, and Doug (Sandy) Winn of Walker; seven grandchildren, Jason (Dana) Schmidt, Kristina (Ben) Moritz, Andy Winn (deceased), Amy Winn, Curt Winn, Luke Winn, and Jared (Kylee) Winn; five great-grandchildren, Henry, Hayden, Solomon, Atticus and Macoy; and siblings, Jeannine Dvorak of Walker, Ellen Fox of Arizona, Marge Henderson of Cedar Rapids, Burt Winn of Walker, and Marc Winn of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by Andy Winn; his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Carol Winn; brother, Pat Winn; and sister, Kathryn Sherman.
Norman was born July 12, 1929, in Walker, the son of Vernon and Mary (Michael) Winn. He graduated from Walker High School in 1946. On May 25, 1948, Norman was united in marriage to Marie Anna Zabokrtsky at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. He was a truck driver for over 50 years, retiring in 2005. Norman was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker.
