Winifred Freeman Ennis, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, after a lingering illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Wayne Droessler. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Richards, husband Dale and their daughters, Laura and Amanda of Cedar Rapids; and Patrice Stamp and husband Darrell of Austin, Texas, and their daughter. Audra of Dallas, Texas; brother, John Freeman of Inman, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Winifred was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph, on April 30, 1999; her parents; a sister, Dorothy Graham of Tipton; and a brother, Thomas Freeman of McAlester, Okla.
Winifred was born on Jan. 31, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Raymond Cleveland and Laura Crane Freeman. She was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She married Joseph Patrick Ennis on Oct. 18, 1941 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Winifred was a life member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, graduating from St. Patrick High School in 1938. She worked as a private secretary in Los Angeles, Chicago, Collins Radio and several electrical firms in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed her family, traveling with her husband and reading during retirement.
