Wilson, Robert V.
Robert V. Wilson, 72, of Garrison, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
A private graveside service will be held at the Garrison Cemetery at a later date. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Survivors include his children, Vernon (Barb) Wilson of Ottumwa, Janet (Tim) Pilcher of Bloomfield, Ernie (Lisa) Wilson of Ottumwa, Jon Wilson of Vinton, Kim Robertson of Vinton, and Pam (Denny) Tharp of Vinton; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; mother, Opal Wilson of Vinton; and siblings, Judy (Tony) Fox of Manchester, Marcia Speier of California, Molly (Charlie) Hauser of Manchester, Greg (Gina) Wilson of Garrison, Patti Foltz of Cedar Rapids, Elaine Faas of Cedar Rapids, and Tim Wilson of California.
He was preceded in death by his father; and wife, LaVonne, in 2004.
Robert Vernon Wilson was born Dec. 18, 1940, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Opal (Parks) Wilson. Robert retired from the Garrison Fire Department as Safety Officer after 35 years of service. He was also a longtime member of the Vinton Eagles Club, an avid hunter, and fisherman.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
