Wilson, Leland 'Cy'
Leland “Cy” Wilson, 85, of Decorah, died Friday evening, Aug. 14, 2009, at Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah from an extended illness. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Bluffton, with the Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, with a Scripture service at 6 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Bluffton.
Leland “Cy” is survived by his wife, Madonna Wilson, Decorah; three daughters: Vernelle (Merlyn) Gossman, Decorah, Marlene (Guy) Williams, Cedar Rapids, and Brenda (Loren) Kriener, Fort Atkinson; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Wilson, Rowley, and Jim (Leone) Wilson, Coupeville, Wash.; one sister, Virginia (Burr) McFarland, Ames; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Wilson, Hopkinton, and Shirley (John) Terry, Independence.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie (Gates) Wilson; three brothers, Lloyd, Lyle and Ralph; half brother, Duane; two sisters, Eileen (Floyd) Boelter and Thelma Hand; and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Wilson and Marie Wilson.
