Wilson, John Bernard 'Jack'
John Bernard “Jack” Wilson, 69, of Mechanicsville, died Friday, July 23, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from a cerebral hemorrhage. Celebration of Life service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Refreshments will be served during the visitation.
Surviving Jack are his family: wife, Jean; one daughter, Kris (Wade) Prasil, Cedar Rapids; their children, Ashley and Brandon; and two sons, Mark and Barney, both of Mechanicsville. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Wilson, Sibley, Iowa; two brothers, Jim (Judy) Wilson, Vermillion, S.D. and Tom (Linda) Wilson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death was his father, Alex Wilson.
Jack was born December 29, 1940 in Sibley, Iowa and graduated from Sibley High School in 1959. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Mortuary Science degree in 1963. Jack married Jean Davidson, January 10, 1965 in Denison. Jack's lifelong vocation was working as a funeral director. He was medically retired from Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in 1992. He enjoyed working part-time at Pearson in Iowa City.
Jack was devoutly spiritual and was actively involved in his religious affiliations. Jack was loved by many people. He enjoyed “remodeling” their homes. His family loved him very much and he will be deeply missed.
A memorial fund in Jack's honor is established.
