Wilson, Dorothy Mae (Ransier)
Dorothy Mae (Ransier) Wilson, 87, a resident of ManorCare Health Services in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion and Springville, died at the care center on Friday, March 4, 2011. Funeral services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Ruth Manley (Dorothy's eldest daughter). Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include three children, Richard (Gale) Wilson of Palo, Ruth (Ron) Manley of Cody, Wyo., and Donna (Ben) Bradshaw of Marion; 11 grandchildren, Terry Von Spreecken, Tawnya (Jeff) Salsbery, John Wilson, Jennifer (Jim) Berguson, Kristin Manley, Nathan Manley, Brandon (Heather) Wilson, Darren (Shelly) Wilson, Jason Bradshaw, Jessica Bradshaw and Taffi Bradshaw; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther (Bob) Nelson and Betty LaBarge; and a brother, Harold (Lois) Ransier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; infant son, Marvin Leroy Wilson; son, Don Wilson; sister, Genevieve Merck; and brother, William Ransier.
Dorothy was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Latur, Mo., the daughter of Ora Artell and Ruth Ann (Booze) Ransier. She graduated from Toddville High School in 1942. On Nov. 1, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marvin Wilson in Cedar Rapids. Marvin died in 1987. She worked as a homemaker and for Turner Microphone for several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice in Dorothy's memory.
