Wilson, Dolores Marie
Dolores Marie Wilson, 84, peacefully passed away in her home on Nov. 21, 2009, after being diagnosed with cancer in September. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church by Father Mark Reasoner, with co-celebrant Father Karl Glovik. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
She was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Manchester, Iowa, to Thomas and Matilda (Raible) Holtz. She attended St. Xavier's in Manchester and worked at McKeag's Bakery until her marriage to Harold L. Wilson on May 20, 1950. Shortly thereafter she moved to Cedar Rapids and was employed by the LeFebure Corporation.
Dolores was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and then later, St. Jude's. She had no children of her own, but gave loving care to her many nieces and nephews throughout her life. She was patient, generous and kind to everyone and truly lived a life of faith.
She is survived by her brothers, Gerald Holtz (Barbara) of Cedar Rapids, Paul Holtz of Waterloo and John Holtz (Janet) of McGregor; sisters, Catherine Volz (Kenneth), Sister Lucille Holtz RSM and Sister Matilda Holtz RSM of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Ann Marie Holtz of McKeesport, Pa., and Bernita Wilson of Manchester; brother-in-law, Lou Ryan of Marion; 25 nieces and nephews; 53 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 36 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband; her brother, Thomas; her sisters-in-law, Dolores Holtz, Zelpha Holtz and Mary Ryan; her brother-in-law, Howard Wilson; a niece, nephew and great-nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Mercy, St. Jude's Catholic Church or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
