Marvin D. Wilslef, 80, of Oxford Junction, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Remembrance Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction.
Marvin D. Wilslef was born Aug. 14, 1933, to Melvin and Jean (Jaynes) Wilslef in Preston, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Linda Haptonstall in September 1974 in Anamosa, Iowa. They later divorced.
He was a mechanic for many years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction and American Legion Wapsie Post 473 of Oxford Junction. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, socializing, and the Game Show Network. His passion was woodworking.
He will be greatly missed by four children: Kim (Jeremy) Krutzfeld of Oxford Junction, Brian Marr of Oxford Junction, Gary (Kelli Jo) Marr of Hudson and Dennis (Linda) Marr of Elizabeth, Colo.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Helma Schultz of Eagle Grove, Rhonda (Kenny) Walters of Wyoming and Ruthe (Ed) Hoover of Romes, Mich.; one brother, Norman "Buster" Wilslef of Wyoming; and one brother-in-law, John Brodersen of Solon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Connie; and a brother, Glen.
