Wilma Sophia Skripsky, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at MeadowView assisted living. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Karen Ullestad presiding. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Monday at Brosh Chapel.
Wilma was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Solon, the daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Konecny) Hajek. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. She married Lumir L. Skripsky on July 11, 1946, in Ely. He died on April 19, 1988. Wilma worked for over 35 years at Square D Co.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking with her dogs, baking, puzzles, and time spent with her family, especially the grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Wilma was a member of Central Park (Echo Hill) Presbyterian and WFLA.
Wilma is survived by her children, Charlene (Carl) Engstrom of Davenport, Vern (Pam) Skripsky of Weatherford, Texas, and Bill (Nancy) Skripsky of Walford; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marcella Fisher of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Richard (Margaret) Hajek of Solon; sister-in-law, Myrtle Hajek of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Kirsten Engstrom; her brother, Bill Hajek; and her sister, Geraldine (Leonard) Broulik.
