Wilma M. Miller, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Northbrook Manor. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church of Christ by Pastor Janice Springer. Private family burial: Czech
National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and Friday after 10 a.m. at the church.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (John) Hunter of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Valerie (Wes) Glasglow of Cedar Rapids and R. Scott Boots of Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Zousel of Cedar Rapids and Marrissa Boots of Seattle, Wash.; one great-great grandchild, Zachary Zousel; three nieces, Carole Farnsworth, Julie Harrelson and Connie Kramer; and four very special nieces and nephews, Donna Bond, Marcia David, Arlene Ullrich and Robert McNamara.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Robert Miller; her grandson, Robert Allan Boots; a brother, Donald Ray Potter; and her sister, Helen Dorothy Harris.
Wilma was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on March 28, 1920, the daughter of Dolph and Emma Kendall Potter, and graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. She married Walter Robert Miller on Jan. 27, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. Walter died in 1994. She spent her life caring for her family and was a fifth-generation member of First Congregational Church of Christ.
Wilma was an avid reader and a longtime supporter of the Cedar Rapids Public Library. She enjoyed British history and treasured her fond memories of her trip to England for her 80th birthday.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor and engaging conversations. Her greatest love in life was for her family, who will always remember how blessed they were with her loyal and unconditional love.
Wilma has received her angel wings and has gone to be with her Lord.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Northbrook Care Center for its professional and loving care of Wilma.
