Wilma Jean Dyer, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Cottage Grove in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with Pastor Robin Tyner officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa.
Wilma was born on August 1, 1938, in North Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Florence Marie (Stoner) Cochran. She was a graduate of University High School and went on to work as an operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. On May 28, 1994, Wilma was united in marriage to James “Dick” Dyer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of Stonebridge Church and enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Game Show Network. Wilma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wilma is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Billye (Steve) Weeks, and Bradley (Denise) Searson; brother, Ralph (Dixie) Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Oxford; husband, James Dyer; and sister, Marilyn Blaha.
