Wilma Irene Richardson was born March 27, 1926, in Moultrie, Ga., the daughter of Frank and Nellie Belle (Lentz) Richardson. She graduated from Marion High School in 1943. While working as a waitress at the Hallwood Restaurant in Marion, she met Boyd David Frantz and on May 14, 1944, the couple was united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Martelle, Iowa. Together they farmed near Martelle, remaining on the farmstead after they retired. They shared 55 years together until his passing in 1999. After retirement, she worked as a waitress at the Coffee Cup in Martelle and later at the Little Arrow in Anamosa.
She was a member of the church and enjoyed bird watching, going on road trips with her husband, and playing cards. During the summers, Wilma enjoyed having the family reunion on the farm.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Sheryl) Frantz, Anamosa; a grandson, Derek Boyd (Lisa) Frantz; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie Frantz and Wesley Frantz.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Nellie Marie, Warren Dale, Willis Frank, Herbert Lewis and Catherine Blanche.
Memorials in her honor can be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
