Willis "Willie" Carl Bahmann, 81, of Hiawatha, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow the funeral service in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Tranquility. Military rites will be performed at the committal service.
Willie was born Aug. 25, 1935, to Christian and Amanda Bahmann in Round Lake, Minn. After graduating from high school, Willis joined the military and served his country with the U.S. Army. On June 1, 1963, he was united in marriage to Janet Thoreson. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending his free time hunting and fishing.
Willie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet; their children: Todd (Barbara) Bahmann, Scott (Amy) Bahmann and Paula (Bart) Ratterree; six grandchildren: Brandon (Stacey), Jared (Jenna), Alex, Kailey, Brooke and Gretchen; a great-grandson, Brycin; and his brother, Merlyn Bahmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
