Willie "Bud" Mercer was called home after a tragic accident on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.
Bud was a best friend to many, a brother, an uncle, a wonderful son and most importantly an amazing father. He leaves behind a very loving family. His shining smile will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his father, Willie Earl Cunningham, and his mother, Tawn Mercer, both of Cedar Rapids; his fiancee, Ashley O'Neal of Marion; his grandmother, Lena Frazier of Cedar Rapids; his stepfathers, Walter Taylor III of Cedar Rapids and Larry Kent of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Kaleya Mercer of Marion; a son, Zayden Mercer of Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Tyson Grimm, Michael Casey, Austin Mercer, Drake Taylor and Gabriel Taylor, all of Cedar Rapids; and his sisters, Shallie Everts, Chanice Mercer, Taylor Grimm, Kadaija Taylor, Shayondra Taylor and Zarria Kent, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Lindsey Mercer; and grandfather, Cecil Cunningham.
Willie was born Feb. 7, 1987, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Willie Cunningham and Tawn Mercer. He was employed with Sully Truck Wash in Cedar Rapids.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Living Waters Church by the Rev. Cymaron Dawson. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
