Williams, Margaret 'Rose'
Margaret “Rose” Williams, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary recited at 2 p.m. Per Rose's request the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Don) Van den Berghe of Columbia, Mo.; three sons, Jack (Katie) of Aiken, S.C., and Michael (Kris) and Mark (Molly), both of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Daniel.
Rose was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Ridgeway, the daughter of John and Catherine Carolan Fitzgerald. She married Lawrence A. Williams in 1944 in Cedar Rapids. Lawrence passed away in 1971.
Rose was a homemaker and a faithful and active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She enjoyed embroidering baby quilts, gardening, working in her yard, relaxing on her deck and was an avid reader.
Rose was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Camp Courageous or the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Rose's name.
