Williams, Kathleen Victorine
Kathleen Victorine Williams passed away peacefully in her sleep Dec. 18, 2012, at the age of 89 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per Kathleen's wishes she was cremated. Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Dr. Edward M. and Fern R. Victorine. She graduated from Franklin High School and then attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., and the University of Iowa, earning a B.S. degree. When still a young child, Kay met Winston F. Williams at the Christian Church. They were married in this same church in 1945 and were married for 58 years. Kay and Winn lived many years in Cedar Rapids and then retired to Florida for 23 years. Winn passed in 2003 and then Kay moved to Cedar Rapids to be near her family.
Kay was a talented and interesting person. As well as being the supervisor at the Mercy Hospital Laboratory for many years, she played tennis, bicycled, operated the Ham radio, volunteered at the library, painted ceramics and was an avid genealogist.
Together they had a daughter, Christine Stansbury of Dallas, Texas, and two sons, Gregory (wife, Beckie) of Cedar Rapids and Fletcher (wife, Kaye) of Amana. She is survived by her children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Kay has requested donations be sent to the hospice facility that cared so lovingly for her husband before his passing. Donations can be mailed to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
Kay will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Please leave an online condolence for the family at www.cedarmemorial.com under Obituaries.
