Williams, 'Gene' Lawrence
“Gene” Lawrence Williams, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. Sixth St, Vinton, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, followed by a private family service conducted by Pastor Jim Coyle. Private committal services will be held at St. John Cemetery, near Newhall.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Gene is survived by his wife, Kathy. They were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church on June 2, 1962.
Also surviving are a son, Larry (Mary) Williams of Morrison Colo.; two daughters, Cindy (Leo) Frazier of Cedar Rapids, and Lisa Williams of Newhall; brother, Gary (Jayne) Williams of Cedar Rapids; two brothers-in-laws, Don (Sharon) Erland of Houston, Texas, and Jon “Butch” Willer of Columbus, Neb.; and mother-in-law, Marcella Miller of Newhall.
His pride and joy were his grandkids, Dillon, Dakoda and Dayton Franzenburg, Cameron, Brayden and Drake Frazier, Jenna (Brandon) Owens (their children, Nick and Aubrey); Adam (Tami) Milbrant and Kali Milbrandt.
He was preceded in death by his twins, Greg and Sheri; parents, Clyde and Maxine Williams; and his brother-in-law, Gary Erland.
