Williams, G. Audrey
G. Audrey Williams, 90, of rural Walker, died Nov. 30, 2012, at her home following a long illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Springville, Iowa, the daughter of George Allen and Lora Ethel (Larson) Gunnison. She graduated from high school in Walker, and then continued her education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids and the University of Nebraska extension service in Omaha, Neb. On Aug. 22, 1943, she and Lynn Morgan Williams were married at the Christian Church in Marion. They farmed north of Walker. Mrs. Williams was also the office manager of the Iowa State University Extension office in Cedar Rapids for 9 1/2 years. Then she worked in the Loan Department at First Trust and Savings Bank in Cedar Rapids for three years.
She was a member of Walker Bible Church in Walker, American Legion Auxiliary, American Business Women, and Pleiades Sorority. She was also active with the 4-H organization. Mrs. Williams was proud of her children and grandchildren. She liked to socialize with her friends over coffee.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lynn; a son, James Williams of Walker; a daughter, Jeanne (Keith) Dudley of Troy Mills; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Gunnison.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Walker Bible Church, with Pastor Casey Reinkoester officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery. Friends may call for visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at White Funeral Home in Independence.
