William E. Yount III, 65,
of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A private family service will be held.
A visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
William was born Jan. 4, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Jacqueline (Redman) and William Edward Yount Jr. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1974. William was a long-time sheriff for Linn County. He was on the DEA task force and the Honor Guard for the sheriff's office.
Survivors include his significant other of 40 years, Linda Touro; siblings, Bradley (Connie) Yount, Linda (Scott) Bullene, Brent (Jill) Yount and Lisa (Mark) Bertelli; and his beloved cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacqueline and William Yount Jr.; and sister, Laura Yount.
