William Edward Wells, 90, of Brooklyn, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Brooklyn Community Estate. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, is assisting the family with arrangements.
William is survived by his wife, Betty;
a daughter, Susan Gleason (Dan) of Oskaloosa; a granddaughter, Missy Armstrong (David Beck) of Grinnell; and three great-grandchildren, Naveah, Ronan and Aspen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Edna Marie.
William Edward Wells was born March 4, 1928, in Ewart, Iowa, the son of Earl Edward Wells and Mary Ann Donnan Wells. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1945. William married Betty Gritsch on Aug. 20, 1950, and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong resident of Poweshiek County, where he farmed for many years.
William enjoyed drawing, dancing and working with his horses, but he especially cherished his family and spending time with them. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Presbyterian Church.
